People tell you to follow your dreams. But sometimes life gets in the way of that.

As a public high school sophomore, member of my school newspaper and want to be author my life is insane. Every waking moment is filled with worry of getting good grades, getting my homework done, doing well on tests, helping around the house and keeping my room clean. And somehow between all that, I have to find time to write, read and take care of myself. Somehow I have to find my way through all the pressure of school and find space for my dreams and goals. It’s hard. Sometimes I feel like I can’t do it. Like I have failed.

Sometimes, people expect us to be okay with the pressure. It’s only a little right? It’s not that bad. To them it isn’t. They think we’ll be okay when they dump a billion things on our shoulder. Sometimes they tell us to follow our dreams then hold us back with a chain.

Now I’m not saying everyone is like that. There are a lot of people in the world who will help you follow your dream. You have to keep an eye open for people like that. If you let them slip away, they could be disappear forever. Those people are important to have in your life. They’ll help you back up when you fall down.

But when people come dumping pressure or expectations onto us, we have to be prepared to handle them. They will try to break us, push us till we can’t take it anymore. They’ll tell us we aren’t perfect, they’ll tell us we’re dumb or ugly or a thousand other things. They’ll try to get inside our head.

We can’t let them.

You are strong, you are brave and you are perfect. God has our back. He won’t ever let us fall. When we can’t walk anymore, He’ll carry us. He knows when we are weak and how to make us strong. We are strong with Christ. We are strong when we follow God’s plan. When we live our lives like God, we are strong.

So when all those other people tell you your junk remember:
God doesn’t make junk. You are His masterpiece.
