I’m sorry for the late post. Yesterday was kind of busy so I decided to postpone the blog post until today.

How was everybody’s Christmas? I had a great time with my family, and I’m kind of sad that it’s over.

I realized that I haven’t really shared very many snippets lately so I thought I would share one. Part of this story I wrote a while back, but I added on to it. Hope you enjoy!

It is said that there was once a mighty warrior, a king who ruled with wisdom and kindness. His kingdom prospered for many generations. He was a great king, loved by all his people. When war struck the land, he took his armies to battle. All who rose to challenge him were struck down. None were skilled enough to face him.

It is said that one day when a man challenged him, he fought to the end, but in vain. The noble king fell for his people. The noble king died for his people. Now, that man who challenged him is king, and he rules with an iron fist. His rule is one of cruelty and pain for the people. None are safe while he sits on the throne.

Nyana’s grandfather fought with the old king. He has told her many stories. Nyana had never forgotten those stories. Even when her family passed, she remembered them. She even wrote a few down. The bravery and kindness of the Old King was one she admired for many years. Maybe one day, a new king will rise and save the people. But hope was slowly faltering.

As Nyana walked through the streets of her town near the coast, the sounds of people hustling and bustling about, she couldn’t help but feel alone. Even surrounded by a crowd of people, she felt alone. Her family was gone. Either killed or taken prisoner for speaking out against the King.

As she looked around the streets, she noticed the old ruins. The palace of the Old King. Then she noticed the soldiers standing about, their spears and swords reflecting the sunlight. For years Nyana had heard the stories of the Old King. But those were all just stories. Even those who spoke of rebellion had given up hope.

The New King’s hold on the kingdom was far to strong. None was brave enough too challenge him. Nyana knew there was no hope of saving her kingdom.
