Happy Sunday!
For today’s post I thought I would continue the story line of Stella and her mysterious guardian angel. If you need a refresh of the story here is where you can find the first three parts: My Guardian Angel ~Snippet, My Guardian Angel ~Snippet 2 and Inktober ~Day 10 and 11.
Well here it is! I hope enjoy it!

Molly and I stayed by the fire. Molly sat beside me, quietly watching the flames flicker. I watched Liam as he and my sister’s guardian exchanged a few words, speaking in low voices. After a moment, Liam went outside and came back with an arm full of chopped wood. The dog, who had welcomed us, lay by the door, its dark eyes watching Liam move around the room. The two guardians soon joined us by the fire.
Liam put another log on the fire and turned to us. “I believe we owe you an explanation.”
I held back a snort. “Yes, yes you do.”
Liam glanced at the other man before continuing. “First of all, this is Ethyn, your sister’s guardian,” The other man waved at me. “Now, what I am about to tell you is going to be rather confusing, and you may not believe me–”
“Liam,” I interrupted. “a dragon attacked me last week, I think whatever you have to say will be believable.”
Liam smiled a little. “Well then, here it goes,” He shifted. “Ever since you were a child, both of you have been seeing things. Things others would consider mythological and unreal. The truth is, what you have been seeing is quite real. All those fairytales you read as children, all those myths and strange creatures you’ve seen, they are all real.”
“If they are real,” I asked. “how come no one else can see them?”
“Because we have the ability to hide ourselves. We are able to blend into our surroundings, using magic to do so.”
Oh there’s magic too? How stranger can this get?
“You see, our kind are from a land that is connected to this world. Sometimes, our people will journey here to live among the humans. Usually those who do so are either those searching for a new adventure, tired of our homeland or criminals trying to escape our prisons.”
“And where is your homeland?” Molly asked. She seemed very interested in Liam’s words. Her hands were folded neatly in her lap, but she sat forward a little, hanging onto his every word.
I was still having trouble believing them. I still didn’t know why I had so many doubts. Like I said, I’ve been attacked by a dragon, how can I not believe this?
“Our homeland,” Ethyn came to sit across from us. “Lies in the North Atlantic Ocean. I believe your people call it the Bermuda Triangle.”
“The Bermuda Triangle?” Okay now that was a little far fetched.
“Yes. It is a portal of sorts that can take people to our homeland. It is why many ships usually go missing there. They get sucked into the portal.”
I shifted a little. Why am I believing this?
“What does all this have to do with us?” I asked, a little impatiently. To be honest, I didn’t really care about all this history stuff. I just wanted to know why my sister and I were being hunted.
Ethyn took over the explanation. “You see, your father used to be of our world.”
He paused, letting his words sink. The first thing that I registered was complete and utter disbelief. I sat there, my mouth hanging slightly open, trying to wrestle with his words. That can’t be possible! Can it?
“Hold on, what?” Molly somehow found a way to express both our surprise.
The second thing that registered was doubt. Could this be why we never met our father’s parents? Or why he never told us of his history? Or why he and our mother shared a knowing look every time I talked about the strange creatures I saw? They both knew this whole time that I was not crazy. Could this be real?
“How?” My voice sounded small.
Liam opened his mouth to say something, but the dog at the door stood, growling low in its throat. Liam and Ethyn stood and walked over to the window.
“How did they find us so quickly?” Ethyn asked as he stared out.
“Nevermind that,” Liam was rushing around the cabin, gathering together two packs and a few other things laying around the cabin. “we need to get out of here.”
Molly and I were on our feet now.
“What’s going on?” I asked, trying to swallow my fear. Who had found us?
Liam gave me and Molly each a pack. We slung them over our shoulders.
“We must hurry. Follow Ronyn. We’ll catch up to you.”
The dog came when its name was called. Liam said something to it and turned to follow Ethyn out of the cabin.
I grabbed his arm. “Where are you going?”
He looked back at me, his dark eyes meeting mine. For a moment they softened. “We’ll be fine. You go. Try to get as far away from here as possible,” He took something off his belt and handed it to me. It was a horn. “If something happens and you need help, blow on this. I will come.” With that he followed Ethyn out the door.
I stared after him, still. Ronyn growled, shaking me from my daze.
“Stella, come on.” Molly grabbed my hand.
I turned to follow her. Ronyn was waiting by the back door, his dark eyes watching our approach. He clawed at the door, growling.
I put my hand on the doorknob and looked at Molly. “I can’t believe we’re doing this.”
Molly smiled and shrugged. “If only your shrink could see us now.”
I laughed. “Come on.” I turned the knob and Ronyn bolted out the door.
Together we started after him, running to catch up. Behind us the sound of swords clanging together echoed through the forest.
