Hi everyone! First, I want to apologize for not posting last week. I got busy and was unable to write a new post.
This week I thought I would start doing something new. I’ve been wanting to do book reviews for a while, but I’ve never gotten around to it until now. I think how I’m going to do is at the end of each month I’ll do a book review of books I’ve read that month. I’m doing this review today because I just finished reading this book, and I was really excited to share.
The book I’m reviewing this week is called The Red Brick Road by Levi Bronze. You can find his website here. This book was just recently released on Amazon and other platforms. It is a retelling of the Wizard of Oz, but with a slight twist. Here is my summary:
On the outskirts of Munchkinland, a merchant persuades Dorothy to forget the advice given to her by the good witch and go in search of the fame and fortune Dorothy secretly desires. “Me first whatever the cost,” becomes her new motto. Dorothy soon discovers the consequences to her actions. This mission takes her to the Red Brick Road. There she meets a mysterious and crafty boy who challenges her to a game. The game’s outcome is not what Dorothy is expecting and it leads her to change her priority. She discovers that there is more to the land of the Red Brick Road than meets the eye… and a curse she might be able to break.
“The Red Brick Road” is a fascinating adventure that takes you on an exciting journey through Oz. Readers discover a whole new side of Oz and Dorothy. The novel is full of twists and turns. I never knew what was going to happen next. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
I really enjoyed reading book. I don’t usually read retellings, but this is one that I absolutely loved. Not only is the story amazing, but it also has a deeper lesson. The book teaches that Me first has consequences that effect you and the people around you. The story and characters are incredible and very well written. I would totally recommend checking this novel out.
Also, fun fact about this book. My mom was one of the readers for it before it was published. My mom is also a writer and a poet. You can find her on Instagram @thewriting.lab. Go check it out!
