As I look out my window at the seven inches of snow we got yesterday, I’m starting to think that this snippet is a little out of place. This snippet kind of came out of nowhere, but I hope you guys like it. Be sure to tell me what you think!

~~~
There was this place I knew. A place where horses run free. Where wolves roamed at night in hunt of their next meal, howling at the moon. Where mountain peaks rose to the sky. Where the wind bounces off canyon walls. Where everything is covered in a layer of dust that blows in the wind. Where cacti wave their branches and quench the wild boar’s thirst. Where the grass grows dark and the trees grow small.
Yes, people call it a desert. But it has its beauties.
Like when the sun sets behind the crests of the mountain faces. When the blue sky goes on for miles, never seeming to catch the horizon. When the night sky is so clear, the stars glisten against the dark canvas. Billions and billions of stars. Or when you hear a wolf howling t the moon, which shines on the earth, illuminating the darkness. Or when the cactus flowers are in bloom. When the coming of spring brings the promise of thunder and rain. When the rain makes the red rocks glisten against the sun. Or when you stand atop a mountain, looking down upon the earth. When the very sight takes your breath away. When the wind rustles your hair and the sun warms your cheeks.
Most would say this world is dry and hot and brown. But have you ever felt the sun warm your skin while the breeze gives you a chill? Have you ever seen a spot of green stand out against the dirt and appreciate it more? Have you ever dug into the dirt to soon find mud underneath.
This world I once knew wasn’t perfect. It had many faults, many imperfections. And, yes, it was not for everyone. Very few could see its beauty.
But this world was beautiful. It created a feeling of wonder and adventure.
It may not be perfect, but it was home.
    Seems like a perfect time to reflect on those times and places. Seasons of life change..but memories are forever.
