Hey y’all! I am sorry for going MIA last week… again. I had family in town so I was a little busy. But hey, today is the first Saturday post of Bek’s Page!
And, as promised, here is a brand new snippet for you all to enjoy. I really loved writing this one so I hope you like it! Be sure to tell me what you think in the comments!!

The moon was the only light that lit up the night sky. I couldn’t see the stars. That’s what I get for being so close to a city.
I followed the path that was before me. My bare feet were silent on the soft earth. The smell of damp soil surrounded me as I flew deeper and deeper into the wilderness, trying to get away.
In the distance, I heard the sounds of people shouting and dogs barking. They found my hiding place earlier than expected.
I pushed myself faster.
They were coming after me because of what I know. Because of the magic that flows through the blood of my family. The power that I have. The electricity.
I can feel it now, waiting to be released. The static ran through my body like a pulse. It begged to be let free, but I couldn’t let it. There was no time for a thunderstorm. They would find me too quickly.
I ran harder than I have ever run in my life. My lungs burned. My legs burned. But I forced myself to keep running.
I can’t stop.
I can’t remember how long I was running for. Or when the clouds started covering the sky, blocking out the moon’s light. All I remember were the shouts growing closer and closer.
They can’t find me.
The thought echoed through my head again and again. Images of the bright, sterile lab flashed through my head. The cold, metal table in the middle surrounded by tools that pocked, prodded and cut. The labs were known for getting results no matter how much blood was spilt. We had toured the labs for school. It was the most horrific experience of my life.
That is where I would be if I got caught. Experimented on like a lab rat.
That fate had fallen upon so many of my people. Of my family.
Fear kept me running.
Fear called to the lightning in the sky.
To the lightning that sparked in my veins.
And I let it free. Hot, sizzling sparks burst free from my palms rushing to meet the lightning forming in the sky. When they met, the explosion made the dark sky burst to life. I froze, shielding my eyes from the brightness. Sparks rained down on me, but I felt no pain. This is me. This is who I am. There was no need to be afraid of them.
No need to be afraid of the men coming after me.
They should be afraid of me.
